Johnie Thomas Workman
( June 22, 1925 - September 24, 2014 )

Johnie Thomas Workman, age 89, of 1673 Cat Square Road in Vale, died on Wednesday, September 24, 2014.

 

His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 28, 2014, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Nelda Greene officiating. Burial will follow in the Workman Family Cemetery at 1673 Cat Square Road in Vale.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

 

Mr. Workman was born June 22, 1925, in Chapmanville, WV, to the late Frank and Myrtle Mullins Workman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons Frank, Ronnie, Johnie, Jr., and Ricky; brothers, Earthel, Winford, Mont, Hathel, Hansford, and Herbert; sisters Martha Tomblin and Molly Stollings; and three grandchildren Kenny Lee Workman, Jason Workman, and Steve Workman. He worked in coal mining.

 

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Sanders Workman of the home; a daughter, Merline Vance and husband Clifford of West Virginia; four sons, Paul Workman and wife Donna of West Virginia, Bobby Workman and wife Norma of Vale, Ralph Workman (Geraldine) of West Virginia, and Kenneth Workman (Janice) of Vale; a sister, Lois Setser and husband Alfred of West Virginia; thirteen grandchildren, Lacie (Tom) Mahon, Andrea (Bubby) Cremeans,  Marlene (Gene) Hopkins, Melissa Shorter, Rodney Collier, Stephanie Morehead, Kimberly Conner, Christopher (Robin) Workman, Ralph Thomas (Tammy) Workman, Jonathan Workman, Sue Ellen Workman, Brian (Debbie) Collier, Bobby (Becky) Collier, Sheldon (Jennifer) Vance, and Greg (Brenda) Vance; thirty-five great-grandchildren; and six great-greatgrandchildren.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the Catawba Regional Hospice of Hickory.
