Obituaries

Mr. Jon August Swanson, age 64, of Lincolnton, died on Wednesday, September 17, 2014.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at East Lincoln Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Edward Reece officiating.  Interment at the VA Cemetery in Salisbury will take place at a later date.

Mr. Swanson was born August 25, 1950, in Jamestown, New York County, to Betty Cannon Swanson and the late Laverne Swanson.  He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.  Mr. Swanson was a water plant operator.

Survivors include one daughter, Sheryl Swanson of Wilmington, DE; mother, Betty Cannon Swanson , Jamestown, NY; fiancee, Linda Owenby of the home and her children, Richie Owenby and wife Michelle of Gastonia and MiKayla Owenby of Cullowhee;  one brother, Bruce Swanson and wife Elizabeth of Newton; two sisters, Sue McCaslin and Cheryl Johnson of Jamestown, NY.
