Obituaries

Mr. Harold Dean Gilbert, age 81, of 848 Newton Lane in Lincolnton, died on Monday, August 25, 2014.

His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2014, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Walt Windley officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Gilbert was born July 20, 1933, in Lincoln county, to the late Marshall Burke and Estelle York Gilbert. He served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War and then later worked as a truck driver.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Jacobs Gilbert of the home; a son, Steve Gilbert of Lincolnton; a daughter, Cynthia Gilbert of Iron Station; two sisters, Barbara “Bobbi” Sparks of Lake Wylie and Shirley Moore of Lincolnton; eleven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
