Obituaries

Mrs. Betty Josephine Horne Earle, age 78, of 1576 Forum Lane in Iron Station, died on Saturday, May 24, 2014.

Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2014, at Pearl Baptist Church with Rev. G.W. Horne and the Rev. Dr. Tim Walker officiating. Burial will follow in the Iron Station Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. on Thursday prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Earle was born July 2, 1935, in Mecklenburg County, to the late John Bunion and Fannie C. Long Horne. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sons, David Earle and Jack Earle, two grandchildren, David Earle, Colin Earle and five brothers, John Horne, Leonard Horne, Jimmy Horne, Benny Horne and James Harold Horne.  Mrs. Earle had worked in the textile industry, retail and home health care.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Elmer S. Earle; two sons, Stewart Earle and Robin Earle of Iron Station; one daughter, Sharon E. Stroupe of Iron Station; one brother, G.W. “Dub” Horne of Alexis; three sisters, Gaye Arrowwood of Mt. Holly, Janice Johnson of Crouse and Brenda Osborne of IL; three grandchildren, Shelly Gales, of Gaffney, SC, Bradley Earle of Iron Station and Megan Long of Denver; four great grandchildren, Jackson Daniel Long and Audrey Elise Long of Denver, Hayden Earle of  Iron Station and Payton Styles of Lincolnton.
