Obituaries

Bruce Wayne Thompson, age 68, of 2190 River Road in Lincolnton, died on Wednesday, May 21, 2014.

His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Oak Gove Baptist Church with Pastor Joe D. Staley officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service at the church.

Mr. Thompson was born May 1, 1946, in Union County, to the late Sanford Harold and Ellen Gertrude Keziah Thompson. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam and then later worked in maintenance.

He is survived by his wife, Jessie F. Thompson of the home; two sons, Tony Wayne Thompson of Charleston, SC and Harold Wayne Thompson and wife Jody of Newton; four brothers, Jerry Doyle Thompson and wife Betty Faye of Lincolnton, Thomas Larry Thompson of Columbia, SC, Sanford Harold Thompson and wife Phyllis of Maiden, and Leonard Allen Thompson and wife Cindy of Petersburg, VA; two sisters, Carol Ann King and Joyce Marie Chapman and husband Robert, all of Lincolnton; and two granddaughters, Amanda Woodruff and Bethany Renee Thompson.
