Rev. William Thomas Mayberry

Rev. William Thomas Mayberry, age 87, of 2479 Country Club Road in Lincolnton, died on Wednesday, May 21, 2014.


His funeral service will be 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Maiden Wesleyan Church with Rev. Bob Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 12:15 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

 

Rev. Mayberry was born September 24, 1926, to the late Otto C. and Willie Head Hedgepeth Mayberry. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Hazel Goins and Lucille McCoy, and daughter-in-law, Kathi Mayberry.  He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Rev. Mayberry was dedicated to his wife, Pearl, for 65 years, was pastor of four churches in Laurel Hill, Forest City, Lexington, and Boger City Wesleyan. The flag that drapes his casket flew over his grandson’s barrack in Afghanistan.

 

He is survived by his wife, Pearl Richard Mayberry of the home; one son, Ronnie Mayberry of Lincolnton; two daughters, Linda Baker and husband Mike and Brenda Dean and husband Floyd, all of Lincolnton; grandchildren Rhonda Ramsey and husband Chris, Dale Dean and wife Vanessa, Jeff Dean and wife Tonya, Brad Baker and wife Danielle, Anson Mayberry and wife Angela, and Carla Baker; and twelve great-grandchildren.
