Obituaries

Lucius “Luke” Lufate Jones, age 86, of 1212 Salem Church Road in Lincolnton, died on Monday, May 19, 2014.

His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church with Pastor Chad Walker officiating. Burial will follow in the Salem Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Luke was born February 2, 1928, in Lincoln County to the late Warner and Annie Hovis Jones. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a grandson, Harley Wilson. He was self-employed as a plumber.

He is survived by his wife, Betty M. Jones of the home; one son, Johnnie Jones of Winston-Salem; daughters, Brenda Jones of the home, Janice Payseur of Lincolnton,  Susie Myers of Sophia, NC, and Bobbie Pilkinton of Lenoir; a brother, Dan Jones of Lincolnton; a sister, Annie Geneva Rudisill of Lincolnton; six grandchildren, Lauren Barker, Kendra Myers, Caroline Mackie, Sarah Jones, Jonathan Wilson, and Matthew Myers; and a great-granddaughter, Raven Henley.
