Dorothy Miller Cornwell
( May 10, 1917 - April 23, 2014 )

Dorothy Miller Cornwell, age 96, of 1675 John Knox Drive in Colfax, and formerly of Lincolnton, died on Wednesday, April 23, 2014.

 

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 28, 2014, in Hollybrook Cemetery.

 

Mrs. Cornwell was born May 10, 1917, to the late Frank Mills Miller and Isabelle Hipson Miller. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Amos Halsted Cornwell and son, Amos Halsted “Chip” Cornwell, Jr. She was born in Morristown, NJ, and later moved to Bethlehem, PA. Mrs. Cornwell graduated from Duke University then lived in Lincolnton, NC for 63 years where she worked as a bookkeeper for Cornwell Drugs. She served as an Elder in the First Presbyterian Church, served as past President and volunteer for Christian Ministries, volunteered for Hospice of Lincoln County, and was a supporter of Amy’s House. After moving to Greensboro, she volunteered for Pathway Ministries. Mrs. Cornwell has lived for the last eleven years at River Landing at Sandy Ridge Road in Colfax, NC.

 

She is survived by her daughters, Susan Hill and Jane Warren and husband Steve, all of Greensboro, NC; her grandchildren and their spouses, Brett Weathersbee and husband Wes, Eric Warren and wife Cari, Kent Warren and wife Annie; and great-grandchildren, Joseph Weathersbee, Nicholas Weathersbee, Grace Weathersbee, Finley Warren, Murphy Jane Warren, Bo Warren, and Sally Warren.
