Obituaries

Sue Ewing Jones, age 85, of the Brian Center in Lincolnton, died on Friday, April 4, 2014.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p. m. on Sunday, April 6, 2014, at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Walt Windley officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside service. At all other times, the family will be at the home of Fran and Don Cagle, 1180 Downing Court in Lincolnton,

Mrs. Jones was born March 23, 1929, in Lincoln County to the late Robert Henry Ewing and Margaret Dorsey Ewing. Sue was the last of seven Ewing brothers and sisters.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by an infant son, Robert Abernethy, and her husband, W.R. “Dub” Jones.

She is survived by a daughter, Fran Abernethy Cagle and husband Don of Lincolnton; two grandchildren, Charles Spencer Cagle and wife Mary and Rachel Frances Cagle and fiancé Jason Hammonds, all of Lincolnton; two great-grandchildren, Mason Andrew Cagle and Lyla Anne Cagle; special nieces, Elizabeth Wiseman and Doris Coulter; and great-nephews, Jamie Ewing, Michael Wiseman and wife Ann; and great-niece, Natalie Wiseman.
