Harold Dean Heavner
( October 2, 1930 - March 20, 2014 )

Harold Dean Heavner, 83, entered eternal life with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, March 20, 2014.

 

His funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, 2014, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. John Locke officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the worship service from 2:30 until 3:45 p.m. in the church sanctuary.

 

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, J. Paul and Essie Leonard Heavner, his son, John Mark Heavner, and an infant daughter. Born in Lincoln county, Harold loved his family most but enjoyed his occupation as a truck driver and retired from Carolina Freight. He also served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

 

Harold is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Jonnie Sain Heavner of Vale, and son Steve Heavner and daughter-in-law Beverly of Vale. Harold is also survived by daughter-in-law Susan Heavner and two grandchildren, John and Sara Jane Heavner of Gastonia. They will miss his happy disposition and constant smile.

 

Harold is also survived by his twin brother, Carroll Heavner and wife Mary, and his twin sisters, Julia and Jane Heavner. They will certainly miss his presence at their Thursday morning breakfast gatherings. He is also survived by two nephews Jeffery P. Heavner and wife Crystal of Wilmington and Carroll Gene Heavner, Jr. of Rocky Mount, NC; a niece, Nancy H. Price of Lincolnton; two great-nephews, Brandon Paul Heavner and Hayden Heavner, both of Boston, MA; and a great-niece, Caroline Powell of Lincolnton.
