Zakie Wade Warlick
( September 10, 1943 - March 11, 2014 )

Zakie Wade Warlick, current Mayor of Cat Square, age 70, of Vale, died on Tuesday, March 11, 2014.

 

His funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. John Locke and Rev. Robert Sain officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

 

Zakie was born September 10, 1943, in Lincoln County to the late Charles Millard and Inez Nettles Warlick. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three sisters, LaDell Rhoney, Sallie Glenn, and Madge Heavner. He worked as a lumber grader.

 

He is survived by four sisters, Catherine Waters and husband Basil and Jo Hood and husband Dean, all of Vale, Martha George and husband Donald of Newton, and Faye Lockman and husband Jim of Lincolnton; one brother, Ralph D. Warlick and wife Colleen of Hickory; two brothers-in-law, Albert Rhoney of Vale and Bob Heavner of Lincolnton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 7, Vale, NC 28168, or to Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658.

 

Zakie would like to thank his friends at Adult Internal Medicine, the Oncology Center, and Frye Infusion Center, especially Melissa, Trina, Karen, Sherry, Tamara, and Temera; Hospice of Catawba Valley, all the nurses, CNA’s and staff, and his other good friends, Sam, Ronnie, Jack, Tony and Debbie, Tom and Mary Ann.
