Jacob "Squirell" Bobby Stamey
( September 25, 1940 - March 7, 2014 )

Mr. Jacob “SQUIRELL” Bobby Stamey, age 73, of 2688 Gaston Webbs Chapel Road in Lincolnton, died on Friday, March 7, 2014.

 

His funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 10, 2014, at Webbs Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Darrell Bost, Rev. Jerry Lail and Rev. Tim Spencer officiating.  His body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday in the chapel of Warlick Funeral Home.

 

Mr. Stamey was born September 25, 1940, in Lincoln County to the late Guy Vance and Ardena Carpenter Stamey. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Vickey Cloninger Stamey and one grandchild, Joseph Hill, Jr.  Mr. Stamey was a lifelong member of Webbs Chapel Baptist Church.  He was retired from textiles.  For over 40 years, Mr. Stamey was an avid amateur HAM radio operator going by the handle of KD4EOZJake and CB radio operator going by the handle of Squirell.  He was an active member of the Shelby Amateur Radio Club.

 

He is survived by a son, Johnny Stamey and wife Deanna of Cherryville; two daughters, Samantha Hill and husband Joe of Lincolnton and Tamantha Devor and husband Dwain of Lincolnton; one brother Lee Stamey and wife Diane of Lincolnton; eleven grandchildren, Heather Dubose, Chrissy Mitchell, Heather Wright, Jacob Wright, Johnathan Devor, Tamatha Sain and husband Jonathan, Sammie Jo Hill, Brandon Stamey, Matthew Hill, Spencer Stamey and Melea Wilson; six great grandchildren, Makayla Hill, Krisalin Drum, Andrew Drum, Hayden Wright, Brody Wright, Kailey Brown; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members..
