Loyd Clinton Ayers
( March 29, 1933 - January 21, 2014 )

Mr. Loyd Clinton Ayers, age 80, of 3269 Pine Tree Street in Lincolnton, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2014.

 

His funeral service will be 12:30 pm on Friday, January 24, 2014, at Long Shoals Wesleyan Church in Lincolnton with Pastor Jon Mann and Rev. Ron Haithcock officiating. Burial will be private in Swannanoa. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 12:15 pm on Friday prior to the service at the church.

 

Mr. Ayers was born March 29, 1933, in McDowell County to the late Jesse and Tellie Henson Ayers. He was raised in Swannanoa and later served in the United States Army. Upon discharge, he graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. After returning home, he worked as administrator of textiles in both Gaston and Lincoln counties, worked for Gaston County Schools as the Budget and Finance Director, and was the owner of NC Spa & Pool.

 

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Ayers of the home, and three children; Bryan Ayers and wife Angie of Lincolnton, Kristi Montgomery and husband Rick of Denver, and Phillip Ayers and wife Dana of Lincolnton; two brothers, Norman Ayers and wife Cleta of Oteen, NC, and Dean Ayers and wife Brenda of Weaverville, NC; two sisters, Jewell Padgett of Black Mountain, NC, and Gail Ayers of Asheville, NC; and five grandchildren, Brittany, Jacob, Josh, Emily, and Truman.

 

Memorials may be made to Robin Johnson Hospice House, 258 E. Garrison Blvd., Gastonia, NC 28054.
