Obituaries

Mr. John Walter Taylor, Jr., age 91, of 229 N. Lincoln Street in High Shoals, died on Wednesday, January 8, 2014.

His funeral service will be 2:00 pm on Friday, January 10, 2014 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dan Carter officiating. Burial will follow in High Shoals Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Taylor was born September 14, 1922 in Pineola, NC to the late John W. Taylor, Sr. and Novella Thompson Taylor. He served in the United States Army during World War II and then  later worked in textiles as a supervisor.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Whitman Taylor of the home; three sons, Steven L. Taylor, Sr. of Supply, NC, Ricky W. Taylor of Lincolnton, and Steve L. Taylor, Jr., of Kannapolis; two brothers, Kyle Taylor of Asheboro and Louie Taylor of High Shoals; two sisters, Dora Mullinax of Gastonia and Violet Weaver of Lincolnton; one grandchild; and three great-grandchildren.
