Mr. Melvin Thomas Canipe, age 85, of 2329 Keener Road, Lincolnton died Tuesday, December 24, 2013.

His funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 27, 2013 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dwayne Barber and Rev. Ronald Lackey officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Friday prior to the service at Warlick Funeral Home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton.

Mr. Canipe was born on March 6, 1928 in Lincoln County to the late George Marcus and Hattie Mae Hovis Canipe.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Ruby Ray Canipe. Mr. Canipe was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Canipe was retired from the textile industry.

Survivors include two sons, Terry Canipe and wife Karen of Lincolnton, Tommy Canipe of Lincolnton; one daughter, Sandra Canipe Hammond; and Randell Kale of Lincolnton; two grandchildren, Adam Hammond and Angela Jean Hammond both of Lincolnton; one step granddaughter, Sheena Mosteller of Lincolnton and step great-grandson, Phillip Mosteller of Lincolnton.
