Marion Lee Martin Umphress, age 89, of 2495 Farm Brook Lane in Crouse, died on Thursday, December 5, 2013.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 6, 2013, at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Umphress was born April 5, 1924 in Trion, Georgia to the late Quincey Aylor and Pauline Wike Martin. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard Stanley Umphress and a sister, Edna Rector. She worked as a waitress at the Lincoln House for many years.

She is survived by three sons, Howard Stanley Umphress, Jr. and wife Brenda Sue of Fayetteville, GA, Henry McClaine Umphress and David Lee Umphress, both of Lincolnton; four daughters, Beverly Jo Ozburn of Locust Grove, GA, Brenda Joyce Dolfi and husband Joe of Holden Beach, NC, Barbara Jean Gelb and husband Ernest of Wyoming, PA, and Bette Jane Scales of Lincolnton; two brothers, John Walter Martin of North Carolina and Daniel Martin of Lincolnton; two sisters, Bonnie Kelly of Crouse and Donnie Ann Childress of Mt. Airy, NC; thirteen grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
