Carroll Thomas Quinn
( November 4, 1922 - November 2, 2013 )

Carroll Thomas Quinn, age 90, of the Landers Chapel Community of Gaston County and most recently Catawba Valley Living at Rock Barn, died November 2, 2013 at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

 

His funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on Monday, November 4, 2013 at Landers Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Frank Herman officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 pm prior to the service at the church.

 

Mr. Quinn was born November 4, 1922 in Gaston County.  He was the son of the late William Rufus Quinn and Rosalee Rudisill Quinn.  He was married to the late Margaret Virginia Lynch Quinn for 65 years.  At the time of his death he was a member of Landers Chapel United Methodist Church.  Mr. Quinn graduated from Dallas High School in Dallas, NC.  He served his country in World War II in the Army Air Corps.  Mr. Quinn retired from a 32-year successful career with Burroughs Business Machines as a field engineer in the Hickory area.  His career began with repairing adding machines and ended with servicing banking computers.  He served his community and churches generously through his work at the St. Stephens Lions Club and the Boy Scouts of America at Highland United Methodist Church in Hickory. After his retirement he and his wife moved to the Landers Chapel Community to be closer to family and lifetime friends.  In their retirement, they enjoyed church work, community get-togethers, traveling, and tending to their garden and fruit trees.  In addition to his  parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by his brothers and sister; Clarence Quinn, Roy Quinn and Ruby Quinn Sealy and his daughter-in-law, Camilla Kelly Quinn.  He was also preceded in death by beloved members of his extended family of sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. 

 

Survivors include his children, Rebecca Brooks and husband, James, of Nashville, TN; Nancy Dellinger and husband Bill of Catawba, NC; Mark Quinn and wife Ann of Kernersville, NC; seven grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, James Brooks and wife Tracy Cox; Jason Brooks and wife Jennifer; Caroline DuBois and husband Richard; Carrie Lackey and husband Phillip; Laura Duggan and husband Chris; Kelly Quinn; Caitlin Quinn, Lindsey Ballard and Bonnie Ballard; eight great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Edith Varalli and many nieces and nephews. 

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Landers Chapel United Methodist Church, 1205 Long Shoals Road, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
