Obituaries

Henry Coley Wood, age 80, of 3749 Killian Road in Lincolnton, died on Wednesday, October 16, 2013.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 19, 2013, in the Crowell Memorial United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Freida Hobson officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Friday, October 18, 2013 at Warlick Funeral Home.

Coley was born July 20, 1933 in Catawba County to the late George and Annie Forrester Wood.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Martha Nell Jarrett Wood, three brothers, three sisters, and two step-sons.  He worked as a truck driver.

He is survived by seven stepchildren, Donna Clement and husband Walter of Sylva, NC, Rhett Isenhour and wife Wendy of Lincolnton, Ann Kanupp and husband Ed of Newton, Jane Willis and husband Greg of Newton, Cindy Milburn and husband Larry of Lincolnton, Susan Alexander and husband Kevin of Greenville, NC, and Rick Carpenter of Marion, NC; three brothers, Gene Wood of Lincolnton, Kenneth Wood of Pennsylvania, and Charles Wood of Lincolnton; two sisters, Sandra Kelly of  Lincolnton and Geraldine Szymanski of St. Augustine, FL; 21 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
