Sarah Jane Armstrong Carpenter, age 99, of 3979 Killian Road in Lincolnton, died on Friday, October 11, 2013.
Her funeral service will be 3:00 pm on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at Crowell Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Freida Hopson officiating. The body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mrs. Carpenter was born August 30, 1914 in Lincoln County to the late Joe and Ida Jane Lingerfelt Armstrong. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, John “Everett” Carpenter, a daughter, Av-Neail Hager, twelve brothers and sisters, and two great-great-grandchildren. She worked in textiles.
She is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Moore of the home; four grandsons, Scott Avery, John Russell, Michael Russell, and Ronnie Russell; three granddaughters, Susie Russell, Donna Schlesinger, and Tommie Russell; 14 great-grandchildren; and 11-great-great-grandchildren.
