Meta Black Van Dresser Power
( June 15, 1928 - September 22, 2013 )

Mrs. Meta Black Van Dresser Power, age 85, formerly of Country Club Road in Lincolnton, and Van Dresser Pt., in Hickory NC died September 22, 2013 at Conover Nursing and Rehabilitation.

 

Her funeral service will be 2:00 pm on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Emanuel Reformed Church.  Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 pm on Tuesday prior to the service at the church.

 

Mrs. Power was born June 15, 1928 in Gaston County to the late Elias Carr and Bryte Plonk Black.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband W.M. Van Dresser, Jr., her second husband Joe Parks Power; one brother E.C. Black and one sister Regina Black Wofford.  Mrs. Power was a member of Emanuel Reformed Church and a retired educator of S. Ray Lowder and Asbury Schools and former member of Jacob Forney Chapter of the DAR.

 

Survivors include her sons, W.M. Van Dresser, III and his wife Robyn of Indian Land, SC, Charles A. Van Dresser of Hickory, NC; one daughter, Linda Van Dresser Anzovino of Lincolnton, NC; sisters-in-law Carol Black, Bettie Baum and her husband Milton, Martha Coulter and her husband Joe, and Doris Baker, brother-in-law Jack Power, grandchildren Gerald Lee Smith, Jr. and wife Raquel, William Van Dresser IV and wife Brandy, and Charlie Van Dresser; great grandchildren Gabrielle and Elijah Smith, and Trinity and Brooklyn Van Dresser;  Stepchildren James Power, Ava Chambers, Glenna Osier and husband Chris;  step grandchildren Justin Power and wife Katie and Jennifer Dunham and husband Ray and two step great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
