Pate Marcus Brendle
( October 4, 1933 - August 28, 2013 )

Mr. Pate Marcus Brendle, age 79,  of  Lincolnton, died on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville, NC following a lengthy illness.

 

His funeral service will be 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Grace Lutheran Church with Rev. Harvey Blume officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:45 until 1:45 pm prior to the service at the church.

 

Mr. Brendle was born October 4, 1933 in Lincoln County to the late Voyd and Zula Propst Brendle.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three brothers, Brian, Joe and Jim Brendle, and a sister, Geneva Black.  Mr. Brendle served in the United States Army and then later worked as a machine operator for Comm-scope in Claremont, NC.  Following retirement, he enjoyed various hobbies, including gardening, collecting and selling antiques. 

 

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Hazel “Bobbie” Heavner Brendle of the home; a daughter, Belinda Wilfong and husband David of Newton; two granddaughters, Alicia Wilfong of Hickory and Michelle Kelly and husband Kris of Summerfield, NC; one brother, Steve Brendle and wife Sue of Vale; three sisters, Camilla Daniels of Winston-Salem, Gladys Grose and husband Huitt of Forest City, and Ann Costner of Morganton; three great-grandchildren, Mia Kelly, Kaden Kelly, and Kinsley Kelly; and many nieces and nephews he was very fond of.
