Obituaries

Nellie Ruth McAlister Shuford, age 91, of 2735 E. Highway 150 in Lincolnton, died on Monday, August 19, 2013.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton with Rev. Earlynne Bartley officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mrs. Shuford was born September 17, 1921 in Lincoln County to the late William Thomas and Dezzie Lawing McAlister. She was also preceded in death by her husband, J. Fred Shuford.  Mrs. Shuford worked in daycare. 

She is survived by two daughters, Doris Shuford Little and husband Edward of Lincolnton, and Alice Shuford Chance and husband Don of Lincolnton; three grandchildren, Jennifer Little and fiancé Randall Johnson, Andrew Chance and fiancée Tera Hayes, Thomas Chance and wife Chalee; one great-granddaughter, Mylah Chance.
