Mary Lou Seagle Cline
( August 31, 1917 - August 14, 2013 )

Mary Lou Seagle Cline, age 95, of 2363 Seagletown Road in Vale, died on Wednesday, August 14, 2013.

 

Her funeral service will be 3:00 pm on Friday, August 16, 2013 at Daniels Lutheran Church with Rev. Ted Bost officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 2:45 pm prior to the service in the fellowship hall of the church.  At other times, the family will be at the home of Sam and Karen Byers.

 

Mrs. Cline was born August 31, 1917 in Lincoln County to the late Walter and Emma S. Seagle.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Ira Cline and a brother, Paul Seagle.  She worked as a clerk for Hovis Grocery and A & P.  She joined Daniels Lutheran Church in 1931 and remained an active member, serving on the church council and was one of the oldest members.  In addition, she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and was a lifelong member of the Women’s Auxillary of the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary. 

 

She is survived by a stepdaughter, Margaret Cline Pettus and husband Dwight of Arden, NC; two step-granddaughters, Lynn Pettus of Charlotte and Margaret Ann Bentley of California; one step-greatgranddaughter, Allyne McCory of California; and a number of cousins in the Daniels community and Lincolnton.

 

Memorials may be made to Daniels Lutheran Church, 3290 Reepsville Road, Lincolnton, NC 28092, or to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 43, Crouse, NC 28033.
