Obituaries

John Columbus Artis, age 56, of 2821 Wood Gate Road in Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, July 30, 2013.

His funeral service will be 11:00 am on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Fairview Baptist Church with Pastor Dwayne Pearson officiating. The body will lie in state for thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Sheets Cemetery in North Wilkesboro.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Friday, August 2, 2013 at Warlick Funeral Home. 

Mr. Artis was born September 20, 1956 in Hardee County, FL to the late Walter Lee and Elsie Dove Artis. He worked as a lab tech at Timken. 

He is survived by his wife, Teresa Wayne Artis of the home; a daughter, Christy Pearson and husband Matt of Maiden; five sisters, Shelby Jean Craw of Florida, Ruby Campa of Vale, Myra Matthews of South Carolina, Edith Reinhardt of Vale and Sue Brooks of Lincolnton; two grandchildren, Rebekah Chapman and Lilly Pearson.
