Obituaries

Mrs. Carrie Farmer Poovey, age 88 of Piedmont Crossing Retirement Center in Thomasville, NC and formerly of Little Street in Lincolnton, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2013.

A private graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 19, 2013 at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Michael Collins officiating.

Mrs. Poovey was born on February 6, 1925 in Lincoln County to the late Clarence and Bryte Reynolds Farmer.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Leonard Poovey; two brothers, Kenneth Farmer, Gene Farmer.  Mrs. Poovey was retired from textiles.

She is survived by one son, Terry Lee Poovey of Lincolnton; one daughter, Verna P. McCulloch and husband Fred of Lexington, NC; two sisters, Alene Carpenter of Sherrills Ford, Louise White of Crouse; two grandchildren, Todd Seagle and wife Pam and Mark Seagle and wife Leann; four great-grandchildren, Cameron, Kelsey, Spencer and Abigail Seagle.
