Virginia Carpenter Wyont
( March 29, 1922 - June 8, 2013 )

Virginia Carpenter Wyont 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 8, 2013.

 

She was born on March 29, 1922, in Lincolnton, NC. Virginia was the daughter of the late Martin Luther (Marty) and Violet Elizabeth (Lizzie) Paysour Carpenter.

 

She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.  Virginia and her husband worked at several thread mills and especially The Tate Yarn Mill in Lincolnton.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Wilfred Woodrow Wyont; her brother Paul Carpenter; sister Mozelle Costner; her daughter Carolyn (Sue) Wyont Emmett and husband (Roy) Edward Emmett.

 

She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth (Ann) Wyont Rudisill and husband Jonas Dayton (Joe) Rudisill; grandchildren, Terri Williamson, and husband Alex, Pam Emmett, Lori Carpenter, and husband Lee, Lisa Glover, and husband Richard, Roy Edward Emmett, Jr., Dawn Emory, and husband Mark; great-grandchildren, Jason, Carie, and Clay Williamson; Joshua and Brady Glover; Chelsea Carpenter Rushing, and husband Cameron; Doug, Joel, and wife Cheyenne, and Hannah Emmett; Jared and Malia Emory; great-great grandchild Jack Williamson.

 

Her funeral service will be 4:00pm on Wednesday at Puett United Methodist Church with Pastor Clifford Wall officiating. Her body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Tuesday at Puett United Methodist Church Family Life Center.
