Obituaries

Mrs. Miriam Jane Stroud Gilbert, age 83, of 430 Shuford Circle in Newton and formerly of Leewood Acres in Lincolnton, died on Wednesday, June 5, 2013.

Her funeral service will be 11:00 am on Saturday, June 8, 2013 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Wyant officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 am on Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Gilbert was born November 26, 1929 in McDowell County to the late Charlie A. and Mamie Elliott Stroud.  She was retired from the Lincoln County School System where she worked in the finance department.

Survivors include her husband Hubert Lee Gilbert of the home; one son, Larry Gilbert and wife Diane of Charlotte; one daughter, Beth G. Wrenn and husband Lee of Kill Devil Hills, NC; one brother Joe Stroud and wife Nell of Lincolnton; one sister, Linda Stroud Brown and husband Thomas of Marion; one grandson, Phillip Wrenn; two granddaughters, Ingrid Gilbert Wheelahan and husband Richard, Anna Wrenn Bruton and husband Michael; three great grandchildren, Lily and Ridge Wheelahan and Kayla Bruton.
