Gladys Walters Franklin
( August 6, 1921 - June 4, 2013 )

 

Gladys Walters Franklin, age 91, formerly of Pete’s Road in Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, June 4, 2013.


Her funeral service will be 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 8, 2013 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Spencer and Rev. Michael Byrd officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Friday, June 7, 2013 at Warlick Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at 7201 Pompano Place in Gastonia.

 

Mrs. Franklin was born August 6, 1921 in Carnesville, Georgia to the late Toy Jackson and Essie Pearl Alewine Walters. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Mark Woodrow Franklin, Sr., a daughter, Jorita Richardson, a brother, Thomas Walters, and a sister, Frances Payseur. She worked in textiles and enjoyed her family, cooking, and reading.

 

She is survived by three daughters, Ann Stines and husband Dean of Dallas, NC, Rose Poole and husband Melvin of Denver, NC, and Jackie Helms and husband Randy of Gastonia; three sons, Roger Franklin and wife Marcia of Omaha, NE, Mark Franklin, Jr. and wife Deborah of Lincolnton, and Rocky Franklin and wife Claudette of Newton; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
