Obituaries

Charles Ray Harkey, age 78, of Daniel Shrum Road in Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, May 28, 2013.

His funeral service will be 2:30 pm on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Ernie Richards, Lynn Lambert, and Rev. Norman Lutz officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 pm prior to the service at the church.

Mr. Harkey was born May 20, 1935 in Lincoln County to the late Bryant M. and Betty Carpenter Harkey.  He worked in the furniture industry and retired from Freightliner, Mt. Holly, in 1997. 

He is survived by his wife, Queeta Beal Harkey of the home; a son, Chuck Harkey of Lincolnton; a daughter, Kathy Cranford and husband Roger of Lincolnton; two brothers, Roy Harkey of Lincolnton and Ted Harkey of Midland; one sister, Barbara Britt of Lincolnton; two grandchildren, Jason Cranford and wife Anna of Lincolnton and Jeremy Cranford and wife Heather of Gastonia; and two great-grandchildren, Noah and Tucker Cranford.
