Obituaries

Ellen Carpenter Gilbert, age 83, of Highway 27 West, Lincolnton, went home to be with her heavenly father on April 30, 2013 surrounded by her loving family.

Her funeral service will be 2:00 pm on Friday, May 3, 2013 at Daniels Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ted Bost officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gilbert was born November 15, 1929. She was preceded in death by Mr. and Mrs. Henry Carpenter, her parents, and brother Charles Carpenter.

She was a loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, a retired Title One teacher at Howard’s Creek School, a lifetime member of Daniels Lutheran Church where she also taught Sunday School, Bible School, and served as youth group leader. She also volunteered with the Literacy Council.

She is survived by husband, Marvin L. Gilbert; two sons, Kevin Gilbert and wife Debbie, Brian Gilbert and wife Gail, all of Lincolnton; five grandchildren, Keson Gilbert (Casey Gilbert), Kenda Stouff (Erik Stouff) of Lincolnton, Sara Cleckner (Chad Cleckner, II) of Lawndale, Marie Gilbert, and Luke Gilbert all of Lincolnton; and three great-grandchildren, Eason and Sydnie Stouff of Lincolnton and Arden Cleckner of Lawndale.
