Vivian Madeline Leonard Hoyle

Vivian Madeline Leonard Hoyle, age 98, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Brian Center in Lincolnton.


Her funeral service will be 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Highway 182, Lincolnton, where she was a member.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Friday, March 8, 2013 at Warlick Funeral Home.

 

Born in western Lincoln County in 1914, she was the fourth of seven children of the late Oscar Olando and Alice Goins Leonard.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, J. Tom Hoyle; brothers, Roland Leonard, Zur Leonard, and Joe A. Leonard; and sisters, Dare L. Jarrett and Frances L. Rhodes Yoder as well as an infant granddaughter. Her occupation was in textiles, and she retired from Crown Converting in 1977 as a yarn inspector. Vivian was a 1932 graduate of Union High School and a member of Daniels United Church of Christ until it was dissolved.

 

She is survived by one son, Johnny and wife, Ellen; one grandson, Adam; one sister, Nell Stroud all of Lincolnton, and a special cousin, Helen Jonas of Vale.
