Betty Ann Reep Houser
( January 18, 1942 - January 3, 2013 )

Betty Ann Reep Houser, age 70, of 756 Shoal Road in Lincolnton, passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, North Carolina.

 

Mrs. Houser was born January 18, 1942 at home in Lincoln County to the late Robert Pinkney and Elizabeth Ellen Allen Reep.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Catherine Reep Craig and her husband, Gerald Craig, brother-in-law Jimmy Keever, sister-in-law Patricia “Pat” Reep, nephew Tim Reep, brother-in-law Gene Gladden Houser, and mother and father-in-law, M.C. and Mazele Gladden Houser. 

Mrs. Houser graduated from Lincolnton High School in 1960, married the love of her life, devoted husband and caretaker, Darrell Houser on April 28, 1965.  She later fulfilled her dream of obtaining a degree in education from Sacred Heart College, a masters degree from UNCC, and AG certification from Lenoir Rhyne University.  Mrs. Houser taught for Lincoln County Schools as a classroom teacher until retirement after 26 years of service.  She will be remembered, by many students, for her love, dedication and passion for them and for their learning.  Mrs. Houser also had a love for music that was expressed through teaching area students piano.  She also enjoyed sewing, scrapbooking, and quilting with dear friends who gathered weekly at her home.  

 

She is survived by her loving husband of forty-seven years, Darrell Houser of the home; five brothers, James Reep and wife Betty, Robert Reep, David Reep and wife Annette, Dean Reep and wife Vickie, and Ray Reep and wife Patty; two sisters, Joyce Costner and husband Clyde and Lorraine Keever; nieces Quanita Hayes, Maria Childers, Brooke Reep, Tammy Smith, and Gaye Morton; nephews, Robbie Reep, David Reep, Jr., Michael Reep, Rocky Reep, Kevin Reep, Ray Reep, Jr., Randy Costner, and Frankie Costner; eleven great-nieces; ten great-nephews; brother-in-law Caroll Monroe Houser; sister-in-laws Judy S. Houser, Diane Rudisell and husband Jim Rudisell, and Sandra Lindler and husband Dennis; niece, Gena Houser Tallent; nephews, Jeff Houser, Shawn Houser, Kurt Houser, Bryan Church, Brandon Lindler, and Carson Lindler; eight great-nieces; and six great-nephews.

 

A funeral service for Mrs. Houser was held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Bethphage Lutheran Church with Pastor Robert Mitschke officiating.  Burial followed in the church cemetery.  The family received friends from 1:30 until 2:45 prior to the service at the church.
