Martha Mauney Boyd Teeter
( May 31, 1917 - December 29, 2012 )

Martha Mauney (Boyd) Teeter, 95, of Columbus, MS, formerly of Lincolnton, NC, died peacefully on December 29, 2012 at Trinity Healthcare Center in Columbus, MS.  Born May 31, 1917 in Maiden, NC, she is predeceased by her parents, Garland E. and Ethel Fern Mauney of Maiden, NC; predeceased by four brothers, Edgar (Mary), Glen (Eunice), Frank (Mary Louise), and Don Mauney; and predeceased by one sister, Edith Taylor.  She is also predeceased by her husbands, Willard Gaither Boyd, Sr. of Lincolnton, NC, and Robert Henry Teeter of Lincolnton, NC.

 

Martha was a Department Store Clerk in Lincolnton, NC, and Winston-Salem, NC, during her early years, and was a homemaker at her homes in Winston-Salem, NC, and Lincolnton, NC, where she enjoyed her sun-porch flowers, traveling, attending musical concerts, birthday parties, and eating out. She often drove her car to Mississippi to visit family in her later years, until she stopped driving.  She was an assisted-care resident at Boger City Rest Home (NC) and Arrington Assisted Living (MS) for several years before transferring to Methodist Senior Services – Trinity Healthcare Center (MS).  She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Lincolnton, NC; and attended Emmanuel until her health failed. 

 

Survivors include one son, (Bill) Willard Gaither (Sandra) Boyd, Jr., of Starkville, MS; three granddaughters, Susan Holland, Melanie (Shawn) Kelly, and Amanda (Josh) Hall; and two grandsons, Mark (Shanan) Boyd and Randy Boyd.  Martha is survived by nine great-grandchildren, Chelsey Holland, Danielle Hollingsworth, Andrew Boyd, Morgan Boyd, Taylor Boyd, Dylan Boyd, Gracie Kelly, Mallory Kelly, and Ainslee Boyd.  Martha is also survived by three nieces of NC, Margaret Tabb, Harriet Lehman, and Glenda Smyre. 

 

Funeral service will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Lincolnton, NC, on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 2:00 pm.  The family will receive friends in the North Wing of Emmanuel Lutheran Church from 1:00 until 1:45 pm prior to the funeral service.  Burial will follow at St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery, Catawba County, NC.
