Ken Maynard Brooks, Sr.
( July 6, 1937 - November 23, 2012 )

Ken Maynard Brooks, Sr., of Maiden, died Friday, November 23, 2012 after a long battle with cancer. 

 

His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Ken Swanson officiating.   Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 pm on Monday, November 26, 2012 at Warlick Funeral Home. 

 

Mr. Brooks was born in Wilkes County July 6, 1937 to the late Annie Elizabeth Brooks Dyson.  Ken was a retired furniture finishing supervisor and owned and operated Brooks Poultry for thirty years in the Banoak community of Vale.  He was widely known as the “Eggman” to his beloved customers.  He was a man of strength, humor, diligence, and the upmost moral character.  His presence will survive. 

 

He is survived by his wife, Carol Grogan Brooks of the home; brother Allie T. Brooks of Lenoir; two daughters, Linda Dianne Strang of Vale and Debbie Jane Hann of Matthews; two sons, Ken M. Brooks, Jr. of Maiden and Curtis R. Brooks of Shelby; seven grandchildren, Yates Richard, Jr., Angela Ray, Chad Brooks, Jason Brooks, Nathan Brooks, Michael Brooks and Kelly Wyant; and eleven great-grandchildren. 

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Catawba County, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC  28658.
