Obituaries

Conette Byers Doran Heavner, age 84, of Carillon Assisted Living, and formerly of 451 Alf Hoover Road in Lincolnton, died on Monday, October 15, 2012.

Her funeral service will be 11:00 am on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Bethphage Lutheran Church with Pastor Fred Mitschke officiating.  Mrs. Heavner will be buried in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:45 am prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Heavner was born January 9, 1928 in Iredell County to the late J.T. Byers and Idella Leonard Byers. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, E. Kohn Heavner, a son, William Edward “Eddie” Doran, brothers, Windell Byers and Alton Byers, and sisters, Loyce Dellinger and Janet Schronce.  She retired from Southern Bell.

She is survived by a daughter, Janet Gross and husband Wesley of Lincolnton; sisters, Elaine Houser Hartman and Carolyn Gilbert of Lincolnton, Phyllis Hovis of Chapin, SC, and Barbara Drumm of Mt. Holly; grandchildren, Matthew Black and wife Kristina of Charlottesville, VA and Bryan Black and wife Erica of Arlington, TX; two stepsons, Charles Heavner and wife Peggy and Bob Heavner and wife Madge, all of Lincolnton; and a stepdaughter, Sarah Hallman of Lincolnton.
