Obituaries

Robert Gene “Bob” Hudson, age 78 of 2329 Country Club Road in Lincolnton, died on Monday, October 1, 2012.

His funeral service will be 3:30 pm on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Andy Royals and Rev. Kenneth Gibson officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:15 pm prior to the service at the church.

Mr. Hudson was born January 12, 1934 in Lincoln County to the late Pete and Rosie Holbrooks Hudson.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Edna “Jane” Lynch Hudson, and a brother, Ralph Hudson.  He served in the United States Air Force.  He retired as an insurance executive.  Most recently, he served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Lincoln Mutual Insurance Company.

He is survived by two daughters, Karen Harris and husband Walter of Mooresville and Lindy Culp and husband Dave of Charlotte; and two grandchildren, Devin and Samantha Harris.

Bob was known for his friendliness and unique sense of humor.  He was a good father, a good friend to many, and touched so many lives with his generosity.  He will be greatly missed for the special man that he was and the laughter he brought to our lives.
