He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife and best friend of 39 years, Rev. Kay Whitesides Nixon of the home.  He is also survived by one brother, Burgin Nixon of Lucia; sisters-in-law Mary Nixon, Maiden and Jewel Nixon, Mt. Holly; brother-in-law Jerry Loftin, Lincolnton; one niece and three nephews; his buddies Trinity, Fancy and Cheyenne.

A receiving of friends is Monday from 6:00 until 8:00pm at Denver Wesleyan Church, 2381 North Highway 16, Denver, NC.  The service of celebration will be 2:00 pm on Tuesday at Denver Wesleyan Church with Senior Pastor Johnny Houser officiating with burial to follow in Denver Community Cemetery. His body will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church.

Special thanks are given to Dr. David Jaroszewski and staff; to Lake Norman Oncology; and friends Gary Werth and Doug Broome for care during his illness.
