Margaret Wilson Graham
( July 8, 1918 - August 21, 2012 )

Margaret Wilson Graham, age 94, died Tuesday, August 21, 2012.  Margaret was born July 8, 1918 in Lincoln County, NC.  She was the daughter of Cordia and Robert Graham.  She was the last of 8 children in her family.  She was preceded in death by her sisters, Roberta Wilson, Mary Graham and Virginia McKee, brothers, James, Ben, Gilbert and William Graham.

 

Margaret is survived by four nephews, John C. Wilson, Graham Wilson of Denver, Dr. Jim Graham of Myrtle Beach, SC and Robert Graham of Charlotte, two nieces, Bettie Faulk of Charlotte, NC and Shirley Christenbury of Anderson, SC.  She also leaves 12 great nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by her many dear friends and acquaintances who dearly cherished her friendship.

 

Margaret was a secretary for more than 40 years with both Central Motor Lines and Mack Trucks, retiring at the age of 75.  She had been a member of Unity Presbyterian Church in Denver, NC for 83 years.  She had the honor of being the first female Elder in Unity Presbyterian Church in over 200 years, as well as the first female Elder in the Presbyterian Church in North Carolina.

 

Margaret had lived in the Graham home place for her 94 years.  It was built over 100 years ago and was cherished by her.  She was a direct descendent of General Joseph Graham who rests in Machpelah Church cemetery along with his family.  The Graham family history in Lincoln and Mecklenburg counties dates back to the 1700’s.

 

Funeral services for Margaret will be 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 25, 2012 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel in Lincolnton with Rev. Dr. Paul Kercher and Rev. Jim Loftis officiating.   The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.  The committal will take place at 3:30 pm in the Unity Presbyterian Church cemetery, Graham Family plot, with Rev. Carol Clark officiating.   A reception will immediately follow the committal in the Fellowship Hall of Unity Presbyterian Church.
