Obituaries

Mr. Henry George Flessa, Jr., age 81, of 3872 English Oak Drive in Lincolnton, died on Monday, August 20, 2012.

A memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm on Friday, August 24, 2012 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 5:00 pm prior to the service. 

Mr. Flessa was born August 13, 1931 in Bellmore, NY to the late Henry George Flessa, Sr. and Dorris Perocheau Flessa.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Doris Whaley.  He worked as a supervisor for Ingersoll-Rand.  Mr. Flessa started a girls softball league in Huntersville, NC in 1975.  His hobbies included baseball, especially the Mets, and enjoyed home remodeling and the company of his cats, Silver, Nipper, and Peanut.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey Nicholas Flessa of the home; sons, Hank Flessa, III of Florida and Steven Flessa of Oklahoma; step-daughters, Denise Garrison and husband Michael of Wilmington, NC and Cindy Skop Ennis and husband Barry of Florida; two grandchildren, Jennifer West of Wilmington and Gavin Ennis of Florida; a brother, Richard Flessa and wife Ethel of New York; and a sister, Diane Shipes and husband Charlie of Huntersville.
