Obituaries

Mr. Robert Lewis Leatherman, age 79, of 6476 Sain Milling Road in Vale, died Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

His funeral service will be 2:00 pm Sunday, August 19, 2012 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Sain officiating.   Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Mr. Leatherman was born June 6, 1933 in Cleveland County. He was the son of the late Belton George and Lilly Mae Carpenter Leatherman. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Peggy L. Thurman.  Mr. Leatherman was a veteran of the United States Army 11^th Airborne.   He retired from Leatherman Farms Greenhouse.

Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Keener Leatherman of the home; two sons, Bobby Leatherman and wife JoAnn of Spring Hill, TN, Johnny Leatherman of Vale; two sisters, Clara Scronce of Vale and Ruth Seabock of Hickory; four grandchildren, Holly Gilliam, Robert Leatherman, Joanna Leatherman and Candice McCabe; nine great grandchildren.
