George Alexander Turner
( February 27, 1926 - July 23, 2012 )

Mr. George Alexander Turner, age 86, of 5074 E. Highway 150 in Lincolnton, died on Monday, July 23, 2012.

 

His funeral service will be 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. Curtis Paul, Pastor Jack Rhyne, and Pastor Marty Ramey officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites by Gaston Masonic Lodge, #369.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 pm on Thursday prior to the service at the church. 

 

Mr. Turner was born February 27, 1926, son of Clarence and Alma Jordan Turner and Stella Whitaker Turner.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Hilda Rudisill, brother, Gene Turner, daughter, Sandy Turner, great-granddaughter, Lauren Whiteside, and Margaret’s son, Stanley Ledford Rhyne.  He served in the United States Army and then later worked as a plant engineer for FAB Industries until his retirement. 


He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Margaret Ledford Rhyne Turner of the home; one son, George A. Turner, Jr., of Gastonia, two daughters, Christine Turner Welch of Gastonia and Diana T. Hill of Kings Mountain; Margaret’s son, Wilford Rhyne of Lincolnton; one brother, Rodney Turner of Lincolnton; three sisters, Dorothy Scism of Waco, Clara Bivens of Lincolnton, and Colette Walker of Dallas, NC; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; Margaret’s two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
