James Myles Moore, Jr.
( March 24, 1944 - July 18, 2012 )

James Myles Moore, Jr., born March 24th, 1944 in Jersey City, New Jersey to Aileen Kennedy Moore and James Myles Moore.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Margaret ( Peggy) Temple, and  brother George Moore. 

Jim is survived by his wife of 24 years, Ina Allen Moore of the home.  His brothers Michael (Linda) of Port Charlotte, Florida, Tommy Moore of Key Port and Joseph Moore ( Bernadette) of  Portmommouth, New Jersey and his Brother-in law Thomas Temple of Lakeland, Florida.

He is also survived by his daughters Colleen  Cornette ( Michael) of Sherrills Ford, NC and Teresa Geddie (Tony) of Edgewater Maryland, son Carlie Pearson of Phoenix, Arizona.  Grandchildren: Katie Rose Cornette, Casey Pearson, Chris Pearson, Brandon Pearson, Chuck Pearson, Jerry Pearson of Phoenix and 8 Great Grand children.

He graduated from Appalachian State University in 1972. He was a Lt. JG in the US Navy and retired as a Nuclear Engineer from the Charleston Naval Yard, Charleston, SC.  After retiring, he enrolled in school and obtained a 100 ton Captain’s  license and worked as a Chief Mate on a vessel in Fort Pierce, FL .

Over the years he lived aboard boats and traveled up and down the Eastern Seaboard. He loved sailing and the water and never met a stranger.

He was an active member of Denver United Methodist Church, Denver NC. He was strong in his faith and a disciple of Christ.  He enjoyed sailing, cooking, traveling, wood turning, and was an avid reader. 

A Memorial Service will be conducted on Saturday July 21st at 2 PM at Denver United Methodist Church in Denver, NC  by Rev. Tim Killian.  Rev. Vic Culburson of Moyock will conduct the eulogy.  The family will receive friends immediately after service. A private burial in Newport, NC to follow at a later date.
