Obituaries

Ruth Stevens McGinnis, age 88, of Lincolnton, passed away on July 12, 2012 at Hospice of Catawba Valley.

Ruth was born November 28, 1923.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Leona Lynch Parker; her sisters, Margaret Parker Yount and Ella Mae Parker Mullinax; her brothers, Frank Parker, Joe Parker, and Bill Parker; her husband, Clyde Stevens and husband Burgin McGinnis.

She is survived by sons, Ben Stevens of Buffalo Grove, Illinois, Ken Stevens and wife Norene of Lincolnton, Randall Stevens and wife Mickie of Lincolnton, Michael Stevens and wife Angela of Isle of Palms, SC; and daughter, Jill Eaddy and husband Martin of Lincolnton.  She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Ruth was a lifelong member of Southside Baptist Church and was retired from Burris Manufacturing Company.  She was a cherished mother and grandmother noted for her hospitality and good cooking at large family dinners at her home.

The family would like to give special thanks to Ruth’s loyal and loving caregivers, Rosie Cooper, Sandy Jones, Coleen Parmer, and Margie Sain.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening, July 14, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Warlick Funeral Home.

A service to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, July 15 at 2:00 pm at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Bud Jernigan officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
