Obituaries

Mr. J. L. Withers, age 75, of 1358 Pressley Drive in Lincolnton, died on Monday, May 28, 2012. 

His funeral service will be 2:00 pm on Friday, June 1, 2012 at First Baptist Church of High Shoals with Rev. Doug McClain, Rev. Harry Caldwell, and Rev. Charles Ingle officiating.   Burial will follow in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Hardin.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Warlick Funeral Home. 

Mr. Withers was born December 15, 1936 in Lincoln County to the late Charles and Edna Pierce Withers.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Cleveland Withers, and a half-brother, Elgin Withers.  He worked as a pipefitter for Duke Energy.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Janice Black Withers of the home; two sons, Brian Withers of Lincolnton and Michael Withers and wife Ashley of Bessemer City; four brothers, W. Troy Withers of Mint Hill, Harold Withers of Lincolnton, Flint Withers of Toledo, OH, and James Withers of Lincolnton; and one sister, Moenner Shrum of Lincolnton.
