Obituaries

Mr. R. W. “Fat” Schronce, age 93, of the Brian Center in Lincolnton, and formerly of Ponderosa Road, died on Wednesday, April 4, 2012.

His funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 6, 2012 at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Little officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 2:45 pm prior to the service at the church. 

Mr. Schronce was born April 20, 1918 in Lincoln County to the late William Guy and Minnie Chapman Schronce.    In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Flossie Davis Schronce, and a son, Tim Schronce.  He served in the United States Army, The Cavalry, during World War II and then later worked as a heavy equipment operator.  

He is survived by two sons, Hal Schronce and wife Vicky and Randy Schronce and wife Barbara, all of Lincolnton; two daughters, Rita Haney of Lincolnton and Judy Schultz and husband Steve of Newton; one sister, Mary McAlister of Lincolnton; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
