Mrs. Vivian Mayzell Poovey Cook, age 82 of 502 S. Aspen Street in Lincolnton, died on Friday, February 10, 2012.
Her funeral service will be 2:00 pm on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at River View Baptist Church with Pastor Rick Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:30 pm on Monday, February 13, 2012 at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cook was born July 24, 1929 in Lincoln County to the late Robert Hoyle and Nettie Elizabeth Thornburg Poovey. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James Cook, three brothers, Robert Grady Poovey, and Lee Roy “Shadow” Poovey, and Claude Leonard Poovey, and a sister, Edna Self. She worked as a beautician and, with her husband, ran Cook’s BBQ in Lincolnton for 35 years.
She is survived by a son, Jamey Cook and wife Denise of Lincolnton; a sister, Myrtle (Sue) Reep of Lincolnton; a brother, Kermit William Poovey, Sr. of Lincolnton; a grandson, Cory Cook; and a granddaughter, Haley Cook.
