Obituaries

Mr. Joe Billy Carpenter, age 68, of 1102 Beagles Run Drive in Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, January 31, 2012.

His funeral service will be 11:00 am on Friday, February 3, 2012 at Covenant Bible Church with Pastor Michael Devine officiating.   Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery with DAV military rites.  The body will lie in state for thirty minutes prior to the service.  Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at Warlick Funeral Home. 

Mr. Carpenter was born March 11, 1943 in Lincoln County to the late Alva and Edna Champion Carpenter.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Bella Lynee’ Carpenter.  Mr. Carpenter served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and then later worked as a pattern maker for Charlotte Pipe and Foundry. 

He is survived by his wife, Linda Quinn Carpenter of the home; two sons, Michael Carpenter and wife Donna of the home, and Scotty Carpenter and wife Alesha of the home; one sister, Mary Shelby of Stanley; and six grandchildren, Brandon Carpenter, Jessica Carpenter, John Carpenter, Norman Fuller, Michael Fuller, and Perry Joe Carpenter.
