Richard William Carlson
( September 4, 1920 - January 17, 2012 )

Denver---- Mr. Carlson, 91, died Tuesday, January 17, 2012. He was born September 4, 1920 in Fairmont City, PA, the son of Oscar H. and Laura W. Carlson. He served in World War Two as a pilot in the Army Air Corps. His career as a pilot with Eastern Airlines covered 27 years. In earlier years “Dick” was an avid golfer and was always very mechanically inclined.

     Mr. Carlson was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Alberta M. “Gretchen” Carlson and his sister, Marguerite C. Reeser. He is survived by his son, Larry R. Carlson and wife, Joan, of Charlotte, NC; granddaughter, French Hope Carlson of Elon, NC; grandson, R. Daniel Carlson and wife, Dawn, of Raleigh, NC.

     Visitation will be from 1:30-3:00PM on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Salem United Methodist Church, lower level meeting room, 378 N. Pilot Knob Rd., Denver, NC. Funeral services will be private.

     The family gives special thanks to Comfort and Lisa and the staff of Partners In Care  and to his neighbors for their compassionate care. The family requests  that memorials be made to the charity of one’s choice.
