Jim Harm Van Dyke
( September 4, 1945 - January 7, 2012 )

Mr. Jim Harm Van Dyke, Jr. “Dyke”, 66 of 1940 Highway 27 West in Lincolnton, died on Saturday, January 7, 2012.

 

His funeral service will be 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at West Side House of Prayer with Rev. Chris Randall officiating.  His body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.  Burial will follow in Hulls Grove North Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Warlick Funeral Home.

 

Mr. Van Dyke was born September 4, 1945 in Lincoln County to Connie Prue Hull Van Dyke and the late Jim Van Dyke, Sr.  In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by one son, James Stewart Van Dyke; two brothers, Major Lee Van Dyke, George Ray Van Dyke; one sister, Cynthia Jones.  Mr. Van Dyke was a deacon of West Side House of Prayer where he was a very active member.  He loved his church and his church family.  Mr. Van Dyke was a truck driver with Piedmont Express.

 

Survivors include his wife, Rev. Hazel Sailors Van Dyke of the home; one son, Jimmy Ray Van Dyke and wife Margaret of Casar; four daughters, Gay Laree Van Dyke of Lincolnton, Donna Owens and husband Buster of Lincolnton, Tabatha Hopper and husband James of Shelby, Mary Flynn of Lincolnton; two sisters, Peggy Beaver and Joy Kay Davis, both of Lincolnton; 19 grandchildren, Daisy Owens, Bradley Owens, Rebecca Owens, A.J. Castillo, Gloria Castillo, Rocky Jay Castillo, Brianna Boyles, Shandel Neal, Brandon Flowers, Amaria Cook, Jamiah Hopper, Javion Hopper, Justin Van Dyke, Tina Van Dyke, Barbie Lovelace, Terry James Sailors, Kimberly Sailors, Brian Sailors, David Sailors; three great-grandchildren,Hunter Allen Neal, Ty Stiles and Kaela Stiles.
